About Nuggeteer – Gold Prospecting and Metal Detecting
My name is Rod and I’ve been searching the USA, gold prospecting since 1984 and I do find some nice gold nuggets using a variety of gold recovery methods. I found my first gold prospecting with a gold pan in a small creek located in Yavapai County, Arizona. In 1985 I was living in Redding, California and had my first introduction to dredging. You might be wondering where the term Nuggeteer (Nuggeteer.com) came from. The term is similar to engineer or auctioneer but all about finding gold nuggets. It’s kind of a fun term. The reason I created this website to is share knowledge and provide information about gold recovery. We will also discuss the various methods used in the process. metal detecting, dredging, drywashing, crevicing, hard rock, gold panning. etc.
My gold prospecting journey has been both as an individual with lode and placer and a professional small scale placer miner. I’ve been fortunate to have spent a lot of time prospecting all across our great nation including Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Colorado. During my travels I’ve met many great people and made some amazing friends all across our great nation.
I enjoy exploring “over the next hill” in the mountains and deserts. Exploration has always been my gold prospecting philosophy. A good campfire with friends is one of the best things in the world. The only way to make it better is when you and all of your friends are sitting around that campfire with gold from the day’s adventures. If you’ve never found gold before but want to try I am sure you will feel the same thrill that I do when you see that first color in your pan.
Love the Outdoors
I am also very passionate about coin, relic, meteorite and treasure hunting, photography, hunting and fishing. Right now I’m just enjoying being semi-retired, traveling and being out in the field as much as possible. My main prospecting gear currently consists of a Keene 140 drywasher with a vacuum, a Keene G-Force Rock Crusher, Fisher Gold Bug 2, Minelab GP Extreme and a Minelab SDC 2300. I hope the information in the articles on this sit help you in your gold prospecting journey.
